Come help grow our school garden!

posted Sep 15, 2017, 3:47 AM by catherinek@alumni.isd.sn   [ updated Sep 15, 2017, 4:01 AM ]

Community Garden Hours: Wednesdays 3:30 - 5:00
ISD students, teachers and parents come and grow a garden together!

There is a school garden on campus!! It is alive and thriving with lots of fruit trees, plants, insects, birds and beauty. For the past year the students have been amending the soil with our school collected compost.  We are now well into the beginning weeks of school and have been preparing the area and getting organized for this new school year. The soil has come a long way!

Community gardens help us learn and appreciate where our food comes from, teach community and stewardship, help us see first-hand the importance of environmental sustainability, and is a healthy, inexpensive activity that brings us closer to nature.  Every time we're in the garden, we see something new and beautiful.  For instance, look at the video and before you play it see if you can find a butterfly....
