Sports and Activities-October 8 2010

 

  1. ASA- After School Activities Trimester 1:

       Please encourage your child to commit to the activity for the duration of the time. The instructors and teachers have put time and effort into planning the activities. Please pay outstanding fees to the instructors this week please.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                              NB: Students who have signed up for an activity with a fee must pay this directly to the instructor. The instructors will have a list of students for their activity. Exception: Pay tennis fee (5000 CFA per month and karate fee 8000 CFA per month) to Mr. Te Huki

 

ASA Reminders:

-Please encourage your child to commit for the duration of the activity.

-Students need to report to the designated venue for the activity on time.

-Students need to come prepared for their activity e.g.-swimming gear; tennis coaches have racquets for students etc

-Some activities are full and there are spaces in others. Check lists.

-Please pay fee to instructors on time.

-Please inform me, the office or the instructor if you pull out of an activity.

-The weather is hot-encourage the students in outside activities to bring a water bottle and cap/hat.

 

NB: There will be no dance classes for ASA-Fri 8, Mon 11, Wed 13 and Fri-15 October. The dance teacher, Georgina has informed the students and will make up the classes at the end of ASA trimester 1

HS Volleyball Girls: Practices next week: Girls: Tuesday 12 October -4:45pm--6pm, Wednesday 13 October-4:15pm A team vs. Dakar Academy @ DA, Red and Blue teams have practice,  Thursday 14 October-4:10pm-5:30pm

 

HS Volleyball Boys: Tuesday 12 October-3:30pm-4:45pm, Wednesday 13 October-4:15pm-Match vs. CSE Under 17’s @ ISD, Thursday 14 October: 7am-8am

We will be hosting the WAISAL HS Volleyball boys and girls tournament at ISD-November 11-14

 

  1. Swimming Classes:

 

The Kg to Grade 12 students will be involved in our swimming program beginning August 30 and ending October 15.The classes will be taught by swimming instructors and staff from the PE department. Elementary teachers will send home information regarding swimming and the schedule.

 

We will travel to a pool at the Club Atlantique, which is next to the school. All students are expected to take part, as this is part of the PE curriculum. If you have any questions please send us an email.

 NB: Reminder-girls must wear a 1 piece swim suit and the students need to purchase a good pair of swim goggles

 

The students will need:

-A swimming cap-recommended

-Flip flops to wear from changing room to pool.

-Swimming goggles (recommend buying a good pair of goggles).

-Swimming suit and towel.

 

 

  1. Golf- Mr. Stefan Gehrold a parent at ISD is willing to organize a group of students interested in learning to play the game of golf.

ES to HS students if you are interested in golf lessons please read the attachment or contact me.

 

  1. Junior Ambassadors and Manners and Me Program – Meet at the International School of Dakar on Sundays at 1:30-3:30pm in the music room.

  1. Junior Rugby: Rugby for boys and girls ages 5 years to 14 years on Friday 1 October, 5:00pm at ISD. Email me if you need further information.

 

  1. Veterans Rugby: Any HS students or adults interested in playing some contact and touch rugby, practices at ISD Saturdays-5pm-7pm.

 

REMINDER

Dear Parents,                                                                                                                                                                                                                

Gaucher Soccer Academy starts officially its season next week October 4 and would like to inform you of the following:

Schedule will be changed and will go longer than usual                                                                                                  Instead of 3:20 pm to 4:10 pm which was the after school regular time, practices go as followed:

ü  Under 7:  From 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm

ü  Under 10: From 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm

ü  Under 13: From 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm

ü  Under 18: From 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm

Players from outside ISD                                                                                                                                                 Beginning next week, Gaucher Soccer Academy opens its door to kids from other local and international schools like Jean Mermoz and communities of Dakar as well.

Membership fee and monthly fee                                                                                                                                           These past two weeks we had 5 practices with ISD students and asked 7500 f cfa for payment.

As for this month, payment will be:

§  20.000 f cfa Membership fee (season) / if you haven’t paid it yet

§  15.000 f cfa (Month) / (2 practices a week)

§  15.000 f cfa (uniform) / if you wish to order one for your kid

Please, make sure you pay your fees as soon as possible if it’s not done yet.
