1. ASA- After School Activities Trimester 1

Week 1 has been completed and it looked like everything went well.
If your child has signed up for an activity with a fee, all students must pay next week. Pay directly to the instructors and they will give you a receipt.
Once again, please encourage your child to commit to the activity for the whole trimester.
 
Snorkeling: If students have theri own equipment, they can bring it to classes on Thursdays.

 

        

GAUCHER’S SOCCER ACADEMY

 

Are you interested in joining our soccer program?  Do you want your child to learn some fundamental skills and socialize through friendly matches as well?

 

Gaucher Soccer Academy activities resumes next week September 19, 2011 with the following:

22.500 f cfa monthly fee (2 sessions / week) – 15.000 f cfa monthly fee (1 session / week)

  • Registration forms will be issued to players next week. They need to be completed and returned to Mr. Gaucher.
  • Provide 2 photos (passport)

MS WAISAL Soccer Tournament: We will be hosting the Waisal MS Soccer boys and girls tournament at ISD-November 10-13. We will be asking our MS students to hosts visiting students. We will have teams travelling from, Mali, Ghana, Nigeria and Burkina Faso
 
 HS WAISAL Volleyball Tournament: HS volleyball girls and boys teams will travel to Accra, Ghana for their WAISAL tournament-Thursday November 17-20.

 

WAISAL Swim Meet: Grade 4 to 12 Swim team will travel to Lagos, Nigeria for their WAISAL tournament –Thursday December 1-4

 

 

3. Swimming Classes:

The Kg to Grade 12 students will be involved in our swimming program beginning August 29 and ending October 21.The classes will be taught by swimming instructors and staff from the PE department. Elementary teachers will send home information regarding swimming and the schedule.

We will travel to a pool at the Club Atlantique, which is next to the school. All students are expected to take part, as this is part of the PE curriculum. If you have any questions please send us an email.

 

The students will need:

  1. A swimming cap-optional but is recommended if your child has long hair
  2. Flip flops to wear from changing room to pool.
  3. Swimming goggles.
  4. Swimming suit and towel.

Community Activities

I have attached the updated list of activities and times of community activities organized by community members throughout the week. Contact me if you have any questions.

 

African Dance and Drum Classes

Anyone interested in African dance classes taught by a professional Guinean dancer. We'll be dancing to live drumming, led by Fode Bangoura (my husband) and master drummer. Classes will be on Tuesdays, at 4:30 under the tree next to the gym, and will cost 7,000 CFA per class.  Come on out and DANCE!!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Djembe drum class of the year started on Thursdays.  We'll be under the tree next to the gym, starting at 4:20. If the rhythms move you, just come on over. Shelly Stein -Grade 2 teacher

 

Kids Rugby-Boys and Girls

Ladies and Gentlemen

The “Sien Fout Le Score” Rugby Club invites all students aged 5 years to 14 years interested in learning and playing the game of rugby to come along to a registration, information and playing session at ISD.

Trainings at P'TITS S'EN FOUT rugby school start on September 30th, from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at the International School of Dakar                                        

There will be 3 age categories: 5 years to 7 years, 8 years to 10 years and 11 years to 14 years.

One form to fill: (2 parts)

- Registration Form and Parental Consent (see attached - copies will be available on September 30th should you have had no chance to print it at home)

Documents to provide:

- Medical certificate for rugby

- Kid's ID/passport cop

- 1 ID picture

- 45.000 FCFA fee, giving access to the school, equipment and individual insurance, for the entire 2011/2012 season.
