  1. ASA- After School Activities Trimester 1: Sorry for the error in the students signup sheet, “It should read starting date-Monday 19 September and not Wednesday 19 September”
Information and sign up forms were sent home on Tuesday and these are to be returned to Ms. Celeste in the office. If your child has not returned their form, please make sure it is returned on Monday so I can complete the lists by the end of next week. I have attached the ASA sign up sheets for ES and MS/HS.

 

2.     ISD Sports Teams:

            The swim team will start practices in the mornings 7am-8am beginning Tuesday 

            September 20. The swim team is open to Grade 4 to 12 students (the students

             should be a competent swimmer). The swim team meets on Tuesdays and

             Thursdays, 7am- 8am. Please read the swim letter attached from Coach Balazs

We will be hosting the Waisal MS Soccer boys and girls tournament at ISD-November 10-13. We will be asking our MS students to hosts visiting students.                                                                                                     HS volleyball girls and boys teams will travel to Accra, Ghana for their WAISAL tournament-Thursday November 17-20.

Grade 4 to 12 Swim team will travel to Lagos, Nigeria for their WAISAL tournament –Thursday December 1-4

 

3.     Swimming Classes:

The Kg to Grade 12 students will be involved in our swimming program beginning August 29 and ending October 21.The classes will be taught by swimming instructors and staff from the PE department. Elementary teachers will send home information regarding swimming and the schedule.

We will travel to a pool at the Club Atlantique, which is next to the school. All students are expected to take part, as this is part of the PE curriculum. If you have any questions please send us an email.

 

The students will need:

  1. A swimming cap-optional but is recommended if your child has long hair
  2. Flip flops to wear from changing room to pool.
  3. Swimming goggles.
  4. Swimming suit and towel.

Basketball at ISD

Princeton Women's Varsity Basketball team vs. Senegal National B team Saturday September 10, ISD GYM, 5pm. NO KIDDING!!! Seating is very limited. We'll put chairs on stage for ISD kids

 

African Dance Classes

Anyone interested in African dance classes taught by a professional Guinean dancer. I'm in process of working out the details, and we should be ready to dance within two weeks.  We'll be dancing to live drumming, led by Fode Bangoura (my husband) and master drummer. Classes will be on Tuesdays, at 4:30 under the tree next to the gym, and will cost 7,000 CFA per class.  Come on out and DANCE!!!!!  Let me know if you're interested.  Thanks, Shelly Stein -Grade 2 teacher
