ASA- After School Activities Trimester II

Monday January 9-Friday March 2.

ASA final list will be posted next Thursday December 15. If you have not returned your child’s choices, please send them into the office by Monday.

2. ISD Sports Teams:


We returned from a very successful swim meet in Lagos, Nigeria. All swimmers competed over 2 days and they all improved their personal times and most of them won a medal or medals. The girls team were placed 3rd overall and ISD won the Sportsmanship trophy.

I have attached the results for the swim meet.


HS Basketball this week.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               The girls’ teams will practice-Tuesdays-no practice, Wednesdays-3:30pm-4:45pm and Thursdays 3:30pm-4:45pm.

Boys: Tuesday 3:30pm-4:45pm, Wednesdays-7am-8am and Thursdays 4:45pm-6pm


We have over 20 boys and 20 girls in our basketball squads. We will be running a Varsity and Junior Varsity teams for both divisions.


HS WAISAL Basketball Tournament-Dakar Senegal Thursday February 2 to Sunday February 5 2012

We have changed the date of the tournament from Feb 23-26 to Feb 2 -5 because the Senegalese election will be on Sunday February 26 and we did not want to host this tournament the same weekend.

We will need to house/host between 80 to 100 High School boys and girls for this tournament. We will be asking the HS student body to help with the hosting.

 Community Activities

I have attached the updated list of activities and times of community activities organized by community members throughout the week. Contact me if you have any questions 


African Dance and Drum Classes

Anyone interested in African dance classes taught by a professional Guinean dancer. We'll be dancing to live drumming, led by Fode Bangoura (my husband) and master drummer. Classes will be on Tuesdays, at 4:30 under the tree next to the gym, and will cost 7,000 CFA per class.  Come on out and DANCE!!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Djembe drum class will be  on Thursdays under the tree next to the gym, starting at 4:20. If the rhythms move you, just come on over. Shelly Stein -Grade 2 teacher


Kids Rugby-Boys and Girls- 5pm-6:30pm @ ISD

Ladies and Gentlemen

The “Sien Fout Le Score” Rugby Club invites all students aged 5 years to 14 years interested in learning and playing the game of rugby to come along to a registration, information and playing session at ISD.

Trainings at P'TITS S'EN FOUT rugby school @ ISD 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at the International School of Dakar                                        


On Sunday December 11, the P’TTS S’EN FOUT rugby club will be hosting a tournament for 10-13 year olds at ISD from 9am-12 noon


Veterans Men Rugby –Saturday 5pm-7pm @ ISD-No Rugby This Week!


Dance Lessons at Club Olympic

Georgena Blair the dance teacher at ISD will be offering dance lessons at Club Olympic.
