Happy Valentine’s Day


Important Annoucement-Gaucher’s Soccer Academy will be on Thursday this week and not Wednesday (due to a track and field meet on the field). If a student is signed up for a Thursday activity they must attend this and not the soccer. There will be no soccer on Monday February 21, it is a school holiday and the field is being used for the WAIST softball tournament.


ASA Trimester 3 begins Monday March 21 and ends Friday May 20. We are looking for parents to offer some craft, cooking or art activities for the elementary students. If you are interested please email me.


  1. ASA- after School Activities Trimester 2 ends Friday 18 February.

Thanks to the parents who have paid for their child’s activities. There are still a few who need to pay. Please pay this week!

If your child attends one of the following activities-Chess, Dance, Tennis, Circus Arts, Capoeira, Fencing and Karate. Pay directly to the instructor.

 

              ASA Reminders:

-Please encourage your child to commit for the duration of the activity.

-Students need to report to the designated venue for the activity on time.

-Students need to come prepared for their activity e.g.-swimming gear; tennis coaches have racquets for students etc

-Some activities are full and there are spaces in others. Check lists.

-Please pay fee to instructors on time.

-Please inform me, the office or the instructor if you pull out of an activity.

-The weather is hot-encourage the students in outside activities to bring a water bottle and cap/hat.

Boys A-Tuesday 5pm- Game vs. BOPP @ ISD gym, Wednesday –5pm-Game vs. DA @ ISD, Thursday 7am-8am

Boys B-Tuesday 4pm-Game vs. BOPP @ Club Atlantique, Wednesday 7am-8am-Practice 4pm-Game vs. DA @ ISD gym, Thursday –practice-3:30pm-Club Atlantique

Girls-Tuesday-5pm-Game vs. BOPP @ ISD gym. Wednesday-practice, Thursday 4:45pm-Practice

We will be sending girls and boys teams to the WAISAL tournament in Ghana-February 24-27 2011.


HS Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament-Saturday February 12

Congratulations to all teams over the weekend. The tournament was very busy for all players and coaches.

The Boys A team were placed 1st and beat DA for the first time in a long, long, time and then went on to win the final over a very tall and physical Club Atlantique side.

The Boys B were placed 2nd going down to Guediawaye Club 17-15.

The Girls team were placed 3rd beating Guediawaye 19-13 in the 3rd and 4th

Playoff game. The girls came up against some very strong players in the DUC and ISD/Club Atlantique combined team.

The ISD/Club Atlantique girls team were placed 2nd going down to a very strong DUC team 50-23. Thanks to Clara, Tatjana, Carine, Carmella and Sabrina for coming out and playing for this combined team.

Thanks to coaches-Ramsay, Philen and Pergont and to Leticia, Cara, Faith and Kadijah who worked on the score bench all day.

Final Placing:

Boys A Division: 1st ISD, 2nd, Club Atlantique, 3rd-DA, 4th –Guediawaye

Girls-1st DUC, 2nd ISD/Club Atlantique, 3rd-ISD, 4th-Guediawaye

Boys B-1st Guediawaye, 2nd –ISD, 3rd-Club Atlantique

                                                                                                                             

MS Volleyball

Boys and Girls-Wednesday and Thursday-3:30pm-4:45pm. Final week of the Intramural competition this Thursday. See results and standings below.


Grade 3-12- Track and Field

DA will bring 10 athletes on Wednesday 16 Feb 3:30pm, for a meet with the ISD team.

The team is preparing for the SIPS Cross Country Wednesday March 2nd and Track and Field meet Friday March 4.

             Grade 4 to 12 Swimming team boys and girls-Mr. Noah Balazs.

            The team will swim at Piscine Olympique on Tuesdays and Thursdays-4pm-5pm.               

            A bus will take the team to and from the pool. The bus will depart ISD at 3:30pm       

and return at 5:30pm. Information will come out today or tomorrow regarding flight times and costs.

 

          HS Softball boys and girls-Ms. Dominique Diaby-Friday-3:30pm-5pm. This

         team is preparing for the WAIST tournament in February 19-21.

Teachers Softball Team

The teachers’ softball team had a win over the ISD students’ team on Friday. There will be a game on Friday February 18. The “WAIST” softball tournament is on this weekend, the schedule is attached.

  1. Junior Ambassadors and Manners and Me Program – Meet at the International School of Dakar on Sundays at 1:30-3:30pm in the music room.

  1. Junior Rugby: The rugby is organized by the Se’n Font Le Score Rugby Club. Rugby for boys and girls ages 5 years to 14 years on Friday’s at 5:00pm at ISD. Email me if you need further information.

 

  1. Veterans Rugby: Any HS students or adults interested in playing some contact and touch rugby, practices at ISD Saturdays-5pm-7pm.

 

  1. Cricket Course in March: Grade 5 to 12 students interested in a 6 week cricket course see the attachment. We have a certified coach from South Africa available to run a coaching course for 6 weeks. Please let me know this week so I can contact the coach. Complete the registration form and return to Mr. Te Huki.
