Hello Everyone,

This is a brief summary of ARL's field trip last Friday.

Last Friday’s field trip was amazing! The ARL members and a few ISD teachers, left Friday May 9th after school to the Oceanium Dive Center. The visit was educational and interesting for everyone.
We met with the Sea Shepherd's crew. Sea Shepherd is an international, non-profit marine wildlife conservation organization. Their mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.

The Jairo Mora Sandoval is the newest Sea Shepherd vessel. She arrived in Dakar in January. "Operation Sunu Gaal" is Sea Shepherd's campaign to monitor and patrol Senegalese waters for illegal fishing. It’s the first mission of its kind here in West Africa.

Mr. Ryan Jones and other Sea Shepherd members warmly greeted us at the Oceanium. They presented to us their projects and ambitions for Senegal. ARL is eager to create a bond with them since we both help and defend animals.

The kids loved it!

Diana (5th grade): “I was surprised about all the new things I learned!”
Irie (5th grade): “It was fun!”
Esther (6th grade): “I really liked it and the speech was meaningful, the vegan food made us discover new flavors!”
Elias (4th grade) : “Can we go again next week?”

Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions!

Thank you!
