Dear ISD Community,

Parent and Student Satisfaction Surveys closed – THANK YOU!

Sincere thanks to the parents and students who completed the 2015 ISD Parent and Student Satisfaction Surveys.

Thanks also to ISD Technology director John Wishart, director Alan Knobloch, principals Ian Clark and Brad Bell, and all teachers involved.

The survey allows us to hear constructive feedback on a number of school issues and gather parent and student input for board/director goals for the coming school year. Survey results will be shared at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 23 April (6.30PM, ISD gym).

Again, thank you for your participation and feedback. It is sincerely appreciated.

ISD School Board Elections 2015

Seven ISD parents are running for election to serve as trustees on the ISD Board. A big thank you to all seven candidates! Trustees will be elected at the AGM on 23 April. All ISD Association members (ISD parents and guardians, faculty and director) are entitled and urged to vote for trustees.

While we encourage all association members to attend the AGM, we know that work and travel commitments may prevent some parents from being there. Absentee ballots were sent out in an email yesterday and will be made available at school from this afternoon and over the coming two weeks. Absentee voting will begin today, Friday April, 10. Please do vote even if you cannot make it to the AGM, it is essential to the functioning of ISD.

April 2015 Board Meeting

The ISD Board held its April meeting on Thursday evening. Below are a couple of highlights of the meeting.

IB DP Student experience at ISD
The Board was pleased to welcome IB seniors Priyanka Satpathy and Akbar Olukoshi, who shared with the Board their experience as students in the first cohort at ISD to take the IB Diploma exams. The seniors discussed with Board members some of the benefits, as well as the challenges of the program.

Vote on ISD’s Strategic Plan
Following last month’s detailed presentation of proposed Strategic Plan goals and indicators of success, director Alan Knobloch shared with the Board a prospective timeline of steps to achieving the strategic goals. Detailed discussion followed on the timeline, goals and indicators. A motion was passed and the Board of Trustees voted to adopt the goals and indicators of success of the Strategic Plan. ISD’s new Strategic Plan will be shared with the ISD community at the AGM.

Full minutes of the 9 April meeting will be available to the ISD community following approval by the Board in May 2015.

Wishing you an excellent weekend,

Vesna de la Borde
Chair, ISD Board of Trustees
