Board Meeting Highlights

posted Dec 9, 2016, 6:05 AM by Marieme MBAYE

The ISD Board met on Thursday 8 December for its last meeting of 2016. Highlights included:
  • an introduction from the Director on the history of the IB diploma program at ISD. This was useful background before the Board hears early next year from the Administration on its enquiries into the IB's other curriculums - PYP (Primary Years Program) and MYP (Middle Years Program).
  • a discussion about the school's 2015-2016 financial statements and the management letter from the school's auditor. The Board asked questions about the statements and next month there will be a vote to adopt the statements if Board members are satisfied that they represent a true picture of the school's finances.
  •  consideration of possible governance models for selecting Trustees, by looking at options for ensuring that the necessary attributes needed for good governance are present on the ISD Board. This is part of the Board's ongoing work towards its 2016-2017 goal of developing a recruitment strategy and succession plan for the Board.
The Board hopes that all ISD families have an enjoyable Winter Break. Our next Board meeting will be on Monday 16 January. As usual, all parents and guardians of ISD students and faculty are welcome to attend as observers and we would welcome seeing you there.

Happy new year!

Louisa Gibbs
Chairperson of the ISD Board of Trustees
