Next week, ISD
Trustees will meet for the February Board Meeting. As always, parents and guardians of current
students and faculty are invited to attend as observers. The meeting will start at 6.00 pm on Thursday 16 February 2017
(refreshments served from 5.30 pm).
This month, the Board will continue its examination of the Primary Years Program (PYP). PYP is the elementary school program of the International Baccalaureate and the school administration is currently considering whether ISD should introduce the PYP. It will have financial, staffing and program implications for the school, so the Board has asked the Director to respond to a number of queries about the consequences of introducing (or not introducing) the PYP program in the elementary school. Please note that Kelly Chumrau, the Elementary School Principal, has also organized information sessions about the PYP for parents, so if you are interested in learning more, I encourage you to contact Kelly and / or attend one of those sessions. We will also discuss progress on the plans for building the new performing arts center and gym and a proposed change in how we record the fiscal year in our accounting practices. We will settle the questions to be included in this year’s parent and student surveys (you’ll be hearing more from the Board about the surveys in the coming weeks!) We have one decision item, which is to vote on the 2017-2018 budget. Please feel free to contact any Trustee if you have a question. We can be contacted on boardbox@isd.sn and our photos are on the website and posted on the Board of Trustees notice board at the front of the school so that you can recognize us. Kind regards, Louisa Gibbs Chair of the ISD Board of Trustees |
