ISD School Board Elections 2015

Dear ISD Community,

Every year, at its AGM, the ISD Association elects trustees to serve on the ISD Board for a two-year term. Trustees for the 2015-2017 term will be elected on Thursday, April 23 (6:30 PM in the ISD gym).

Please see below for information on how to apply as a candidate to run for election as a trustee.

As the governing body of the school elected by the ISD Association, the Board of Trustees focuses on strategic issues, collaborating with and supporting school administrators, who are responsible for day-to-day school operations and affairs.

Here are some of the tasks of the Board of Trustees:
- Approves the guiding statements of the school
- Defines strategies and sets goals to achieve the school mission
- Appoints, evaluates and supports the school Director
- Approves and monitors the annual school budget
- Sets school tuition and fees
- Approves the school calendar
- Develops, reviews and amends school policies
- Plans for and approves major school renovations and building
- Approves major changes to school program
- Oversees school facilities and grounds

TRUSTEE ELECTIONS 2015

For the 2015-2017 school Board term, there are five trustee positions open for election.

Trustees help to lead strategic planning, provide financial and campus improvement oversight, and review and develop school policies. The term of service is two years. Trustees attend one monthly board meeting and 2-3 monthly committee meetings, as well as board governance orientation and an annual weekend retreat for training and yearly goal-setting.

Trustee candidates must be the parent or legal guardian of an enrolled ISD student whose tuition payments are current.


We are seeking individuals with the following interests and skills :
· Commitment to ISD and its guiding statements
· The ability to work as a team player with a diverse, international group in a multi-cultural environment
· An expertise that will benefit the work of the board
· Experience on a school board or similar non-profit body
· An interest in strategic issues related to ISD’s present and future educational quality and development
· Experience living or working in an international environment.

Interested candidates should send a CV and statement of intent stating why you would like to run for a trustee position by April 2nd to the ISD Board Secretary, Jennifer Grant at boardbox@isd.sn
