At its first meeting of the school year yesterday, the ISD Board of Trustees confirmed and adopted its goals for 2015-16. This year, the Board will focus on five goals, three long-term and two-short term. They are the following:

ISD Board Goals for 2015-2016
1. Develop a five-year financial plan by May 2016.
2. Approve Multipurpose Arts Building construction plans by May 2016.
3. Long-term vision: examine optimal school enrollment and campus configuration.
4. Increase election participation by developing an e-voting process.
5. Support ISD’s re-accreditation process by completing the first draft of the Board report.

ISD Board Committees for 2015-2016
To achieve its goals, the Board works through committees.
2015-2016 Board Committees are:
1. Finance, chaired by Thiaba Camara Sy (Board Treasurer)
2. Policy, chaired by James Garry (Trustee)
3. Buildings & Grounds, chaired by Alan Knobloch (Director)
4. Governance & Development, chaired by Gráinne MacRae (Board Vice-Chair)
5. Ad Hoc Accreditation, chaired by Vesna de la Borde (Board Chair)

Parent experts needed!
At ISD, we are lucky to have a community of parents with very diverse backgrounds, talents and skills. The Board would very much like to benefit from these experiences and competencies. We would like to call on parents to contribute their expertise to the ISD Board by joining a Board committee as a parent expert. Parents with:
- expertise in finance, financial analysis, accounting, please consider joining the Finance committee,
- expertise in construction and/or prior experience in construction in Senegal, please consider joining the Building & Grounds committee,
- prior experience on international or independent school boards, please consider joining the Governance & Development or Policy committees.

A parent expert on a committee is not required to attend Board meetings or to fulfill Board duties. Committee workload is one meeting a month, plus some research that may be required of members as needed.

Please do consider this, ISD would benefit from your expertise! If you are interested in sitting on a Board committee or would like additional information, please contact Board secretary Jennifer Grant at boardbox@isd.sn or speak to trustees, the Director or Principals on campus. We look forward to hearing from you.

Wishing you a very good weekend,
Vesna de la Borde, Chair, ISD Board of Trustees
