Trustee Election Results and the Annual General Meeting

Trustee elections Trustee elections closed on Thursday 21 April at 5pm and were announced at the ISD Association Annual General Meeting. Sincere thanks to all ISD Association Members (parents and faculty) who voted. Congratulations to the four candidates who were elected for the 2016-2018 Trustee term of office: Marie Blanchard, James Garry, Vesna Heysch de la Borde and Jonathan Scott. 290 ISD association members voted this year (a 25% increase from last year’s voter turnout). Votes were counted and tallied by electionbuddy, our e-voting service provider and validated by the Election Committee* made up of an ISD parent, ISD faculty and administration and trustees. Sincere thanks to the Committee. Officers of the ISD Board for the 2016-2017 school year will be elected at the Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday 17 May 2016. Annual General Meeting – Thursday 21 April 2016 At the Annual General Meeting, ISD administration and Board reported on their work and goals this school year. It was also an opportunity for the school to recognize staff members from all areas of the school for their service to ISD. Elementary school Principal Ian Clark presented 5, 10, 25 and 30-year service awards to ISD staff and faculty members. Congratulations to all recipients. The Board thanked Ian Clark for his outstanding service to ISD and to the Board. Secondary school Principal Brad Bell shared an overview of college acceptances obtained by ISD graduates over the past five years and by this year’s senior class. Director Alan Knobloch spoke on the highlights of this academic year, thanked ISD staff for their efforts over the course of the year and shared details on the upcoming construction of a Performing Arts Center. Board Treasurer Thiaba Camara Sy reviewed school finances and gave a preview of next year’s budget. Board Chair Vesna de la Borde reported on the Board of Trustees’ activities and goals for this year. Key findings from the 2016 Parent and Student Satisfaction Surveys were shared by Alan Knobloch. Questions from the floor were moderated by Board Trustee Linda Percy. Board Vice-Chair Jennifer Grant announced trustee election results at the end of the evening. The Annual General Meeting was adjourned at 7.40 pm.
