Who governs this school? You!: Electing ISD's Board of Trustees

posted Feb 5, 2016, 7:55 AM by Suzanne WARDINI   [ updated Feb 5, 2016, 8:18 AM ]

Here's a quick recap of what the Board presented at this week's Parent Coffee:

1. ISD is governed by its parents and faculty. The ISD Association is made up of parents and legal guardians of all children enrolled at ISD, the school faculty, and the school Director. Members of the ISD Association elect board members to represent them on the governing body of ISD for two year terms – this is the ISD Board of Trustees.
2. As a parent, you have a vote in the Board elections and we're counting on you to participate by exercising your right to vote.
Please also consider sharing your expertise with ISD by running in the election to serve as a Trustee.
3. Important Dates:
March 1-18: the time to declare your candidacy to run in the elections.
April 8-21: the time to vote in the elections. Voting will be done electronically so you can vote at home or anywhere you have an Internet connection.
April 21: ISD's Annual General Meeting - a great evening to learn more about the state of the school.
4. The handouts distributed at the Parent Coffee are attached - they explain the process for running in the election and for voting in the election.
5. Please don't hesitate to contact the Board of Trustees at Boardbox@isd.sn for more information.
