The children's museum I am part of, ImagiNation Afrika, is hosting a night of the stars this Saturday 31 March for children ages 5 - 12. The event starts at 4 pm at Timotimol, near Point E. (see map attached) Here is the schedule. (It is printed on the flyers attached below, but I am translating it here) 4:00 - 4:30 - Learn about fractals and how they relate to the solar system with an interactive Power Point presentation 4:30 - 5:00 - A planetarium show (sponsored by ASPA, a local astronomy education association) 5:00 - 6:00 - Children are divided by age. 5 - 8 year olds make a mobile with consellations; 9 - 12 year olds learn about the phases of the moon and make a sun dial. 6:00 - 7:00 - Children ages 9 - 12 make a kaleidoscope; 5 - 8 year olds learn about the phases of the moon and make a sun dial. Dinner break - food and juice provided 7:30 - 8:00 - Storytelling - African myths about the starts(in French) with musical accompaniment 8:00 - 9:00 - Star-gazing through telescopes Children can do the craft part of the evening from 4 - 7, or the storytelling/star-gazing part from 7 - 9, or both. 3,000 cfa each or 6,000 cfa for the evening.
