Teacher training for our Sister School in Pikine Wednesday, 12 December, 7 ISD faculty members will work with teachers from our sister school in Pikine, Yaayu Xaleyi. Yunus, Djamila, Christy, Sedi, Noah, Maryelle, and Marième will work with 8 teachers from Yaayu Xaleyi on literacy training with a focus on book maintenance, reading charts, and time management for a reading class. Thanks to all for their efforts in the broader Dakar community. Jappale English and French classes for the ISD Maintenance Staff ISD parent, Marciale Hounton, has graciously volunteered to teach one-hour French literacy classes each week to 20 members of the maintenance staff. That class started Tuesday, November 20th, and is off to a good start. ISD parents, Jenny Ellis and Alice Lefevre, have volunteered to help ISD Seniors Haris Fontaine, Nathan Vanelli, Larissa Blagogee, Omar Sow, Julia Versel, and Lori Gauthier teach English to ISD's maintenance staff. Those classes started in October. These classes help our community achieve one of the Jappale goals of creating and building community between ALL members of the ISD network. The ESL course was one of the most successful programs last year and is in high demand again this year! If you are interested in volunteering to teach English or French Literacy, please contact Emily Grimes at emily@isd.sn with the specific days and times that you would be interested in teaching, along with any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you so much for your support with this program! |
