Dear ISD Community,

Greetings from the Jappalé Committee!  We hope that your academic school year has been exciting, productive, and full of learning!  We would like to share with you information about two projects currently in action at ISD with Jappalé.

1)  School Supply Drive: First, we are leading a school drive to collect, gather, and distribute school supplies to each of our support staff families with children in school.

Goods desired are: pens, pencils, erasers, notebooks, compasses, rulers, color pencils, pencil sharpeners, book bags, games, and puzzles.  Any monetary donation is also appreciated and accepted.

Supplies can be sent to your child’s homeroom class or to room 25.  We will be collecting these items from now until Wednesday November 10, 2010.

2)  Tabaski Basket Distribution: As the Islamic holiday Tabaski is right around the corner, we are leading a drive to distribute food items to each celebrating support staff.  Each homeroom class will collect (a minimum of) the following items through Monday November 15, 2010:

  • 2 Large cans of Nescafé coffee
  • 4 Kg of Sugar Cubes
  • 3 medium size cans of Tomato Paste
  • 10 Kg of Broken Rice
  • 4 L of Oil
  • 10 packs of Green Chinese Tea Gun Powder
  • 3 bags Powdered Milk

Homeroom classes can decide how they want to collect the items.  Also, homeroom classes are challenged to raise 25,000 CFA to present with the Tabaski basket food items.  That breaks down to about 1,000 CFA per child.

If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, or ideas for Jappalé, please do not hesitate to contact us at either Brad@isd.sn or Djamila@isd.sn.

What better way to build community integrity than to get to know and to support all the people within it!  Jappalé encourages you to learn wolof, get to know our support staff, celebrate with them all of the positive things ISD and Dakar has to offer!

Jerejef!
