On Saturday April 21 and Sunday, April 22, Samusocial, along with other partner associations (Samusocial Sénégal, Village Pilote, Empire des Enfants, Nuevo Futuro, Sper, Perspective Sénégal, Assea), will be organizing its 3rd edition of Olympiades at the French Military Base (Route de Ouakam).

It will be a kind of "Olympic" games with 2-days of sports activities. About 200 children from 5 other NGOs partners will be involved. There will be music, soccer matches and several races. Guests including carpenters, brick-layers, electricians and poters … will come to talk about their profession because Samusocial would like to seize this opportunity in order sensitize kids on these various to raise.

 As usual, I do hope that HS students will be able to help out at the ‘’Olympiades’’, by participing in team games, filming the event or chaperoning the kids during the whole period. Samusocial is very popular among our High Schoolers since ISD has developed a strong relationship with the boys at the shelter over the past 4 years. On a regular basis on Friday afternoons we go there and we play games and do art projects together. Many Elementary school parents are familiar with Samusocial since upper elementary students visit the shelter on a weekly basis.

Parents and students are welcome to join us during the two days.

Since it’s been decided for this year to hold the event at the French Military Base here are some security-related procedures to follow:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

• Please send at the following address: djamila@isd.sn the details of people who will be joining us (last name, first name(s), date of birth and nationality). People whose name is not in the list will be denied entrance in the Base; the Military people will make no exception. Deadline for submission of the details: Friday, April 13, 2012.                   
• On the day of the event, bring your ID and that of your kid(s). Within the Base visual instructions (signs) will be provided. The event will be held in a large sports field and tents will be erected to host various activities for younger ones… and protect them from the sun. Free drinks will be served to all. However, if you plan to stay there for the whole day, please do bring sandwiches. Here are a few indications for regarding the program:
