On Sunday, May 15, 2011, from 9:00 to 18:00, Samusocial (a French International NGO which provides emergency service and a shelter for street kids) along with other partner associations, is organizing on ISD's campus a day of sport activities. It will be similar to "Olympic" games. About 200 children from 4 others NGO partners will be involved. There will be soccer matches, several races and music. Guests such as a carpenter, a bricklayer, an electrician, a potter … will come to talk about their profession because Samusocial would like to take advantage of this day to raise kid’s awareness about these trades.

More than 32 of our High School students have volunteered to help out with this event by participating in sport teams, filming the event or chaperoning the kids all day long. Samusocial is very popular among our High Schoolers since ISD has developed a strong relationship with the boys at the shelter over the past 3 years. On a regular basis on Friday afternoons we go there and we play games and do art projects together. Many of our Elementary parents are also familiar with Samusocial since upper elementary students visit the shelter on a weekly basis.

Last year in late February, Mary Casey (our former Service Coordinator) and the Samusocial staff organized on our campus 2 days of sport activities. Here are some pics from last year’s event! It was a huge success!

Parents and students are welcome to join us on next Sunday.

Feel free to contact me if you need any further details.
