Alex Papinutti, a senior at ISD, has been offered admission at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, BC, Canada.  UBC is one of Canada's most prestigious universities, consistently ranked in the top 40 universities worldwide, and admission is very competitive.  Alex is an Italian citizen and has attended ISD for three years.  He plans to major in the sciences, possibly Biology.  Although Alex has other university applications pending, UBC is his first choice of schools and he will most likely accept this offer of admission.  Congratulations, Alex!

The University of British Columbia's Vancouver campus is located at the western tip of the Point Grey Peninsula, close by to the city of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada.  The University Endowment Lands community (also known as University Hill) is situated adjacent to the campus to the east, while 763 hectares of forested parkland known as Pacific Spirit Regional Park serves as a "green belt" between Vancouver and the campus.  Although many buildings on campus are quite new, the University's history actually dates back to 1877.
