Omar Sow and Nathan Vanelli recognized in 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program ISD is proud to announce that Omar Sow and Nathan Vanelli have been named Commended Students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. To receive this honor, Omar and Nathan had to score within the top 3.33% of over 1.5 million students who took the PSAT last October. Fewer than 1% of students who took the test have been named as Finalists for the program. Although they will not continue as scholarship Finalists, Nathan and Omar are to be congratulated for this superior achievement. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) praised all Commended Students as some of the best and brightest minds in the country as demonstrated by their outstanding performance in this highly competitive scholarship program. Omar and Nathan will be honored at this week's High School community meeting and will receive a Letter of Commendation from Timothy E. McGuire, President of the NMSC. Being named as a Commended Student may also help them qualify for other scholarship programs. Please congratulate these young men when you see them. Congratulations, Omar and Nathan! |
