Update on University Offers for Seniors

Offers of admission continue to arrive for our senior class.  Check the list below to see what's new since the last post.  Congratulations to our seniors!  It is still early in the "season" so many seniors may not hear from their prospective schools until March, April, or even later.

            Pennsylvania State University - Penn State is a public 4-year university with its main campus in University Park, Pennsylvania, USA.  Founded in 1855, Penn has 19 other branch campus locations.  35,000+ students attend University Park (5% international), with thousands more at other campuses.  Business, Engineering, and Communications are among the most popular majors.

            Hawaii Pacific University - HPU is a private liberal arts college and 4-year university located in Honolulu, Hawaii since 1965.  HPU enrolls 6500 undergraduates (6% international).  Business and Health Sciences are by far the most popular majors.

University of Toronto - A public research university with a strong liberal arts undergraduate program, UT enrolls over 67,000 undergraduate students (over 10,000 international from 150 countries) on 3 campuses in Ontario.  The university enrols more students, employs more faculty, has the largest library in Canada, and offers a greater range of courses than any other Canadian university.  UT was founded in 1827 as King's College, and now claims to be the most important research institution in Canada.

Maxime Lambert: 


            George Mason University - GMU is a public 4-year university in Fairfax, Virginia, USA, 20 miles from Washington DC.  Founded in 1972, GMU enrolls almost 20,000 undergrad's (3% international).  The most popular majors include Business/Marketing, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, and English.

            University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - a public 4-year university in Champaign, Illinois, USA.  Founded in 1867 (re-named U of I in 1885) UIUC enrolls over 32,000 undergrad's including 4500 international students (2nd most international students of Top 20 Research Institutes in the US).  World renowned in Engineering, UIUC's other popular majors include Business, Social Sciences, Psychology, and English.  Fun fact:  researchers at the university are perfecting a method of converting plastic shopping bags into diesel fuel, natural gas, and other petroleum products.

            McGill University - Located in Montreal, Quebec, McGill is a publicly supported private university with almost 39,000 students (13% international).  McGill received its Royal Charter from King George IV in 1821.  Some trivia:  McGill has Canada's oldest Faculty of Medicine, and researchers at McGill created the first artificial cell and the first internet search engine.  Popular majors include Engineering, Medicine, Education, and Agricultural Sciences.

Camille Vittin:

            Eckerd College - Eckerd is a private 4-year liberal arts college in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA.  Founded in 1958, Eckerd boasts a very impressive 4-year graduation rate of 97%.  Among Eckerd's 1800+ undergrads, the most popular majors include Biology, Business, and Social Sciences.  Fun facts:  Eckerd's campus is pet-friendly and has 332 pets living on campus.  There are also 15 hammocks and 150 "yellow bikes" for students to use free

Anabelle Voisard: 


            Concordia University - Concordia was founded in 1974, following the merger of Loyola College and Sir George Williams University.  Located in Montreal, Quebec, Concordia is a public university enrolling 24,000 full-time undergraduates (13% international).  Concordia's international population has increased 150% in the last ten year, perhaps in part because Montreal is now ranked No. 1 as the "best city in the world to invest in an overseas degree".
