Greetings, all, from what feels like the ‘Edge of the End’ here at ISD. With one full and two short weeks left, students are frantically studying for exams, teachers are frantically preparing for Report Cards, and I’m frantically looking at the calendar, wondering when I’m going to pack! There are Concerts, final Board meetings, The Talent Show, and Graduation all in the days ahead. Lots to celebrate and enjoy, and we look forward to seeing parents at school to help us applaud our students for their achievement this year.

Thanks to the PTO and particularly Grainne MacRae and Sharon Nossiter for the lovely cakes they provided today after school, celebrating the departure of Mike Emborsky and me. Mike and I have had a great run at ISD, and I give tremendous credit for the development of our High School and Middle School programs to Mike, who brought both vision and energy into the ISD community, and leaves having transformed our upper school programs, leaving the much the better for his guidance and shaping.

I’ve been asked to share a list of who is leaving, and realized it is an overdue part of my annual communications. The following is a list of who is leaving, where they are going, who is replacing them and where that person is coming from:

Other important news about next year that I’ve been asked: School starts next year on Monday, August 20 with the Opening Ceremony, at school at 2pm. All welcome (and should attend!). First day of classes is Tuesday, August 21. The 2012-13 Calendar is available for download on the ISD Website.

I wish you all a pleasant final long-weekend of the year. My family and I will spend our last time out of town, down on the delta, enjoying some sun, sand, and fishing! Then it is back home to pack the rods down for their next stop on the Red Sea!
