Hello everyone,

It has been a stellar week for ISD with our Middle School Girls winning the WAISAL Middle School Soccer Tournament –that almost didn’t happen!  The school would like to formally thank Mr. Dikoum from Emirates Airlines for stepping in to assist.  We really appreciate his efforts.  Our boys played hard and unfortunately lost in a shoot-out in the semi-finals-a game that PE teachers call a real “character builder.” Also, big thanks to our coaches and parents who gave so generously of their time in accompanying our student athletes.

The Kindergarten to Grade 2 Music concert was superb!  The acoustics in the new upper school amphitheatre were terrific and you could hear and see everyone.  I’ve heard that it was a tremendous improvement on the acoustics in the gym! Congratulations to all the staff members involved and especially to Music Teacher Joy Oswunda on her first concert at ISD! I am sure that the upcoming concerts will be equally as successful.

We are really hoping to see as many parents and children here as possible for our Official Opening Ceremony of the new Upper School on Saturday, December 8.   Tours start at 3:00 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 4:00 p.m.

If you have driven on the Corniche recently you will see that parking is at a premium due to the Senelec work going on so it is suggested that parents enter the area by the apartment buildings off the Route de Ouakam and park on the other side of the fence that blocks the access road. There will be refreshments following the ceremony and students have some wonderful performances in store for you.

In my last Dispatch I spoke of Change, and one of the changes that is occurring this year is that the Elementary Student Council has decided to support Samusoial with their fundraising efforts for the year.  However, the school would not like the children at the Pouponniere to go without, so ISD will be pleased to act as a drop-off location if you and your family would like to make donations.  Please drop off donations at the Nurses office. A wish list of their needs is below. If you would like to write a cheque, please make it payable to  Puponniere des Soeurs Fanciscaines. More information on the Pouponniere is available at  www.dakarpouponniè
