As we end a busy trimester, I wanted to write and update folks on a few things going on at ISD.

It has been a rich, busy 1st Trimester at ISD. Report cards went out today, putting a final note on your child's first term this year. I'd like to thank all the teachers and administrators and especially the ISD Office staff for their work in pulling the report cards together---it is a large logistical project and requires everyone to do their part. If you find that your child does not have a report card this term, it may be the result of overdue library books, outstanding team uniforms, or unpaid school bills. Please contact the office.

Our students had a great term of activities and our new trimester promises more of the same. We have a large array of ASAs for elementary school students, and more MS and HS activities than ever. Our HS basketball teams will travel to Ghana for WAISAL at the end of this trimester's basketball season, and our MS soccer team will also compete in a WAISAL event. If you feel that there are not enough activities in a specific area, we are always happy to have parents provide activities for our students. Please contact Mr. Te Huki if you have an idea for an activity you would like to lead.

The Board Community Forum on November 24 was attended by about eight ISD parents who were not teachers, administrators or trustees. The discussions on the new building project, the school calendar, and admissions were--I hope--educational for all. The new MS/HS groundbreaking will be either December 17 or January 10. Please read the Jag Journal in coming weeks for confirmation of the date of this landmark event. We continue to project completion of the building by August 2012.

Winter concert season is almost upon us. Please come out and see the progress and growth of the ISD Music program. Ms. Brink and the choirs have been busy and working hard, and they look forward to performing for parents.

Congratulations to Shady and Mirna (of Shady Shack) on the birth of their baby son, Denzel. If you are lucky, you can get a peek at him over at Shady Shack. He is a beautiful little guy.
