Busy Times at ISD

This first month of school has been a busy one for students, teachers, coaches, parents and board members.  Much is now set up for the school year to progress nicely on a positive course.  I want to thank teachers for preparing their Open House presentations, students for serving as guides, and all the parents who participated.  We had a good turn out at both the Elementary and Secondary Open Houses.

The Director Search Committee has met many days each week to read and process applications, conduct interviews over Skype and prepare for the campus visits of the finalist candidates the first two weeks of October.  Please look for information on the Director Search section regarding the search, which is updated regularly.  We would very much like to have a good turn out of parents at the town hall sessions scheduled during those weeks.  A schedule of the events and opportunities to interact with the candidates will be sent out soon.  Once you have the information, please mark your calendars for those meetings.  While all committee members have dedicated many hours to the process, I want to extend special kudos to Rob Autry, the committee chair, for his inspiring organization and leadership, and his tremendous dedication of time and professional expertise to this project. 

Following on from my message last week, I still encourage you to take advantage of the lighter traffic in the mornings between 7:55 and 8:05.  This can open up circulation across the drop off period and make our lives a little easier in the mornings.  Just have a bit earlier breakfast and an earlier departure from the home.   We are continuing to work with the traffic police to get effective officers to guide circulation on the Corniche. 

 Safety and Security Video Cameras

Safety and security cameras are being installed at the school by our technology department.  You will soon see cameras set to monitor entrances as well as internal positions around the campus.  This will be the first phase of the project, with further installations foreseen in the coming months.
