Thanks for being green on Wednesday - we will now also be recycling cans at the gate! Next week's main event is the WCM Finale, and if you would like to dress up with your child and be in the parade of nations, please email Asiya or Olivea at asiya@isd.sn & olivea@isd.sn for more information. 

We have 20 booths, so you are also welcome to come in the morning, sample food, check out your child's work in the gym from Senegal Arts Week and shop at the bazaar. Another busy ISD day!!

3. Earth Day 2015: This week we celebrated the many aspects of Earth Day. We had a visit from "Dr. Canacla" and Secondary students came to our assembly to talk about the can recycling program they are starting. Bring cans and drop them in the box near the gate - they will be recycled.

4. Overnight Trips to Thies & Lac Rose: Last week, we took the Gr 5 to Lac Rose and Gr 4 students to Thies on overnight trips. The students had a wonderful time, and returned tired and happy. Here are a couple of photos:

5. Summer Camp: This will be a two-week camp, and we will be sending out sign-up forms next week that will be due to the finance office with the payment. We can accept up to 70 spaces, and this is first-come first-served. more to follow. 

6. New Classrooms: You may have noticed some construction in the area of the "old offices". These rooms next to the Gr 5 classrooms are being converted to Grade 4 classrooms for next year. It'll be great to have the classes back together and the rooms will be fully fitted out for the new school year. I have happy memories of the old offices, though it is a little different in there now:

8. Swimming Starts Monday May 4: Mr. Gaucher would like to share that swimming starts up again on Monday, May 4, 2015 to end on Friday, June 5, 2015. See attached note at the end that says:

Dear Parents,

The Kg to Grade 5 students will be involved in our swimming program beginning Monday May 5 to Friday June 5. The classes will be taught by swimming instructors and staff from the PE department. They will have swimming during their PE class times.

Staff: Gaucher Kadam-Kindergarten to Grade 5

Swimming Instructors: Mr. Cheike Ndiaye, Mr.Ibrahima Seck and Mr. Ousmane Thiaw 

All students are expected to take part, as this is part of the PE curriculum. If you have any questions please send us an email.

The students will need:

1. A swimming cap-(optional) (Caps for sale at PE Office for 3000CFA)

2. Flip flops to wear from changing room to pool.

3. Swimming goggles. (Goggles for sale at the PE Office for 5000CFA)

4. Swimming suit (Girls one piece) and towel.

9. Pre-K Emotions: We have been doing a lot of work in the younger grades with executive functioning. This leads to empowerment, and children becoming better decision-makers.
