Dear Parents, We have a few things going on at school the next two weeks; our class photographers are here next week, with Reading Week following. All go, as ever, and more details below. I apologize for not being at the gate Wednesday through Friday, but I'll be at a hiring fair in Boston. I will be checking email regularly. I hope to be back Monday morning for the start of Reading Week! Lunch Orders: Please remember to follow our lunch and snack guidelines HERE. Also, a reminder that Shady Lunch can only be ordered from the weekly order sheet, and food from his other menus cannot be delivered by Shady to the school for lunch. Class Photos and Individual Portraits: Next week, we are having the individual and class photos. Order forms will go out with sample pictures the following week. Here are the days your child will have a portrait taken so you can ensure they are scrubbed and dressed as you'd like. MS & HS photos are on Thursday and Friday: - Monday 4: 2S, 3C, Pre-K 3, KG B, 4S (ind.) - Tuesday 5: 2C, 3D, Pre-K 4B, KG K, 5R (ind.) - Wednesday 6: 1B, Pre-K 4W, 4I, 1T, 5H (ind.) - Monday 11: 5H, 5R & 4S class photos & make-up day Grade 1 Cultural Parade: 1st Graders enjoyed their parade and museum today. Pictures below: Library Photos: Here are a few photographs of the library under construction on Friday as a taster!: ...and a photo of Ian Hogg and Aboubacar Ndoye, who we need to thank for the creative ideas and getting this all done! They would not appreciate me putting this in, but here they are all the same!: Library Volunteers: On Monday the carpets and wiring will be completed. On Tuesday, bookcases will be moved back to the library. As of Wednesday, there will be a lot of book sorting and cleaning to do. If you have some time you can give to help arrange books in their new places, please get in touch with Colette or Jackie at librarian@isd.sn. I am sure they would like any assistance you can give, as we get the new space up and running. We have appreciated your patience the last two weeks. Assemblies this Week: Thanks to Ms. Gina who organized the KG assembly this week, and to Mr Ishmael, who ran a most entertaining performance, including CORE man and the wonderful creativity juice!: Atlantic Rowers: Our Oar Northwest rower friends are approaching Cape Verde on their journey across the Atlantic. If you have a minute, check their progress and blog HERE.After School Activities: Please speak to Mr. Te Huki if you wish to check for any spots that may have opened up in an activity. Also in the week: - Decorate your door competition - big prize for winning class! - DEAR for 15 mins a day - random times each day - Storytelling/Drama - Ms. Shelly's storytelling - Pyjama Party Friday - children bring pjs, cuddly toys and read in classrooms - Bruce Coville presents.... Feb 13th 5:30-7:00 (readings and signing) - Bruce also officially opens the library that evening!! Elementary Picnic: There have been a lot of sign-ups, but I believe Ms. Joy is still open for auditions.
