Elementary News: February 21

Dear Parents,

We have now completed the MAP testing for Gr 2-5, and reports will be heading home soon. We are also completing the KG, Gr 1 & 3 hearing and sight screenings, and letters will be sent home if there are any needs to follow-up. More below:

Notes:

1. Gr 3, 4 & 5 Lock-in: I have spoken to all the Grades about enjoying the sleepover, and also respecting the sleep patterns of the chaperones and Gr 12 students! The students would like me to request that parents drop-off and pick-up promptly.

2. 2G Assembly Next Week: There will be a 2G assembly on Thursday February 27 next week. The 4S assembly has been moved back one week to March 7 due to SIPS.

3. Playground After School: Please note that after school the playground after school is only for Gr 2 and younger. This also applies for students from out of school. There are too many small children to have the older grades also running about the sand and equipment, and Gr 3-5 have a chance to use the equipment during the school day.

4. Book Drive: If you still have books to come, please do send them. Let's hit the magic mark of 1,000 books - we are at 883!:

5. ID Badges: Here is information about the ID Badge procedure:

ID badges play an important role in the safety and security of the school. It deters unauthorized individuals from entering the campus and provides instant visual identification for teachers, security, and staff.

During the months of February and March, we will be issuing ID badges for parents and caregivers. Once implemented, ID badges will be required to enter campus and must be worn on campus at all times. Families may choose to get as many as 4 badges, i.e. mother, father, nanny, driver. The badges will have the person’s photo, the person’s full name and the student’s family name. Starting in August, a school year date sticker (2014-2015) will also be placed on the badge. As soon as you are issued your badge, please begin wearing it on the school campus.

GETTING YOUR PICTURE TAKEN
All photos will be taken in the school’s front office. The schedule includes both daytime and evening sessions.

 PHOTO SCHEDULE
We will start our badging process this Friday, February 21. Each day we will have a window from 8-10 AM and from 3-5 PM. Your family is entitled to four badges, please choose the persons who will be coming onto campus most often. You will be able to enter the campus without a badge, but you will be required to leave a photo ID with the guards in order to be loaned a visitor's badge. Please see your time in the schedule below. You will come on the day that corresponds with your child's last name. If you miss your appointment, please contact Nichole Ngom at nichole@isd.sn.
