Dear Parents,

This was a busy 4-day week in the Elementary School, to say the least. There were three field trips, two assemblies featuring student performances, birthday lunches, reflections of MAP testing, the conclusion of Book Month and a PJ party!

Other notes:

1.    MAP Testing: If you have a child in Grades 2-8, you will be receiving their MAP reports. The MAP tests give us valuable information about your child’s progress in many specific areas of the Language Arts and Math curriculum. They also give us information on useful programmatic benchmarks. A letter has also been sent with the reports giving more background.

2.  2nd Grade Field Trip: Ms. Shelly and Ms. Crystal’s classes went to the lighthouse and statue this week. HERE are some photos:

3.  Class Portraits: These will be taken over the next week and you will have received an order form by email. If you would like to order photos, please bring the form and money on the date of your child's photo.  The photographer will be collecting order forms at that time. Here are the class dates:

4.  No Shady Shack on own: An important request. Please remind your children that they are not allowed to go to Shady Shack after school alone. Only with a parent right with them. Shady and team have been reminded about this, which is the same rule as previous years.

5.  5th Grade’s Trip to Lac Rose: As part of their local studies, the 5th Grade applied their sunscreen and were put to work at Lac Rose. Click HERE.

6.  SIPS and WAISAL Swimming: SIPS stands for Sports Invitational for Private Schools. It includes students from Grade 3 upwards, and some students have been training to take part in the Cross Country and Athletics meets next Wednesday and Friday. There are also students from the Elementary School taking part in the WAISAL swimming in Ghana. We wish them all the speed, strength and stamina they need!

7.   Circus Arts & Dance Assembly: On Thursday, we were treated to some balancing, juggling and dancing from two of our after school activity classes. Most enjoyable, click HERE.

8.    Scholastic Book Club: Big thanks to the PTO team for organizing the distribution and collection of the sheets in the book order. This is now being input and we’ll update you on the shipment’s progress!

9.    Report Cards: These are being worked on at the moment, and will be sent home on the last day of this trimester, Friday, March 11.

Regards,

Ian Clark
