Dear Parents,

We have a lot going on in school, as we continue our work through the second semester. We are also looking forward to many of the upcoming events at school or around Dakar in the next week....

1. WAAWZERS Live - Friday 16th 8:00pm: The top billing and poster says it all - perhaps we'll see you there this evening...

2. Board Coffee: There was a great turnout at the Board Coffee this week, and we hope those who were there learned a little more about the role of the Board and the importance of trustees in a school such as ISD. I have two links for all:

3. Puppet Show in Arts & Crafts: The Arts & Crafts ASA were happy to take up the offer from the IB Theater students to attend a shadow puppet performance, followed up by their designing and trying their own puppets. Thanks to Ms. Grimes, Mrs. Clark, Ms. Janel and the HS students for facilitating this:

4. 100 Best Children's Books of all Time: I always enjoy seeing where my favorites appear on such lists. Take a look at Time Magazine's 100 children's favorite books HERE. Perhaps purchase a few for the Kindle.

5. Afternoon Professional Development: This afternoon, the Elementary School teachers continued analyzing the work we are doing in Language Arts and Math. As you know, we now use the Common Core State Standards, and we are currently working to align our report card standards to these. A lot of time is spent on this, but all necessary and we appreciate this valuable opportunity to get the school together in teams.
