Dear Parents, Thank you for keeping the attendances at the Pre-K and K-5 sets of conferences so high today - I do hope you learned even more from your child than you did from the report cards. Below, I have focused initially on food, as we feel this is always a subject that we need to discuss and continue to improve. That, plus more on a busy week ahead..... Notes: 1. Healthy Lunches: I would like to share again the Healthy Lunch Guidelines that we have at ISD, that I give to all new families to the school. We continue to work on making sure Shady Shack's lunches are healthy and interesting, and here are the guidelines for those eating packed lunches: I have also inserted a link below to Jamie Oliver's 2010 TED Award acceptance speech on the subject of school lunches, where he talks about the links between home, school and life between: It is hard-hitting talk, but an important discussion he is trying to initiate: 2. Gaucher's Soccer Tournament Tomorrow: As a reminder, the re-scheduled Gaucher Soccer Tournament will now take place tomorrow, on Saturday, March 14. Our teams will play against BCS (an international community school) from Mbour and other local teams from Ouakam and Guediawaye. The matches will start at 9:00 am and finish around 12:30 pm. 3. Gr 2-5 Francophonie Concert Next Thursday: Remaining on the French theme, parents are invited to come to the concert being put together as a collaborative unit between the HS French students, and the ES Gr 2-5 French students. This will begin in the Secondary Amphitheater Thursday, March 19, at 1:00pm. 5. KG B Assembly Next Thursday: We begin Thursday 19th with an assembly from Ms. Gina's Kindergarten class. 6. Field Day Next Friday: On Friday, March 20, our last day before Spring Break, Mr. Te Huki will be running the Elementary Field Day; more on timings will be coming home and parents are welcome to attend on the field. 7.
