Dear Parents, A lot to celebrate just in the last week, and looking ahead we are on the cusp of our next World Cultural Month, and do please contact Gaucher if you are interested in running a booth at the WCM final day. Also, please take a look at the event on April 9, which would require a little costume planning. So, as a busy term ends, we wish you a relaxing, fun and safe week ahead whatever you may be doing. Notes: 1. World Cultural Month: Here are some dates for the upcoming WCM. Please note that the Senegalese Dress-up Day & Senegalese Lunch has been moved to Thursday, April 9: - APRIL 1 - OPENING CEREMONY 8:40 am - 9:10 am / Place: ISD gym - APRIL 6 - APRIL 14 - SENEGAL ARTS WEEK Glass painting - sand painting - batik - recycling during art class. - APRIL 9 - CULTURAL LUNCH & LOCAL OUTFIT DAY ISD sponsors the lunch for the elementary department. Students are encouraged to dress up in Senegalese wear. - APRIL 17 – FACULTY/PARENT COOKING CLASS A class on how to make a Senegalese dish (TBD). This class is opened to faculty and to parents. - APRIL 24 – FACULTY/PARENT COOKING CLASS A class on how to make local juices (Bissap, bouye and cocktail). Opened to faculty and to parents. - APRIL 29 - BAZAAR (Day 1) - 9:00 am - 4:30 pm Local artists and artisans are invited on campus for your summer shopping. - APRIL 30 - CLOSING CEREMONY 2:00 pm - 3:10 pm • Country booths visited by students • Parade of the nations • Elementary school performance • Concert • World items exhibitions • Bazaar (Day 2) 2. Parent Satisfaction Survey: Below is the link to ISD’s 2015 Parent Satisfaction Survey - from the ISD Board of Parent Governors: Please take the time to complete this survey now or before Tuesday, March 31. It should take no longer than 10 to 15 minutes of your time. Most questions include a box for additional comments. Please feel free to write explanations or comments here. Attached (at the bottom of this page) as a guide is a translation into French of the survey questions. A separate satisfaction survey for students will be done at school. Your input is important to improving performance at ISD and your feedback is greatly appreciated. Summer Camp 2015: We will soon be sending out a questionnaire to discover the interest level for a Summer Camp. If there is enough interest we will run this the week of June 15-19. If there is interest in running a second week, we will also run this the week of June 22-26. As in previous years the Summer Camp is only for students who are enroled at ISD. 4. Field Day Today!: A clip from the busy day we had today. We began learning cheers, and after an assembly we headed to the field in our 4 teams. We were so proud of the positive attitude showed, and the leadership of the Grade 5s who ran the teams. Francophonie Concert: We were entertained on Thursday by our Gr 2-5 French students, working in partnership with our HS French students: 6. Gr 3 Fractions Museum: Grade 3 hosted grade 2 students and shared all they know about fractions - i heard that many Gr 2 children started their own museums in their own time!: 8.
