Dear Parents,

Today we are enjoying the Elementary Picnic, and next week on Tuesday in the gym we have our After School Activities Assembly. We are also getting ready for our parent conferences in two weeks; you should have received your scheduled times. More below....

1. ASA Assembly: After school activities ended on Friday, March 4. On Tuesday March 8, is the ASA Assembly (note - it is on a TUESDAY this time)

Come help us celebrate the work we have produced:

5. Tae Kwon Do

In the Gym Tuesday, March 8, 3:40pm

2. K-5 Student-Led Conferences: In 2 weeks we will be having our Student-led Conferences for the K-Gr 5 classes. The format for the K-5 classes is a little different to the traditional Parent/Teacher Conferences. Each session is 40 minutes, and you will have transition time if needed. As you can see on the video below, this form of K-5 conference is very interactive, and we encourage parent to ask guiding questions:

Student & Parent Conference - Grade 3

Here are some examples guiding questions that you might like to ask your child at the conference:

·       Can you tell me more about…?

·       How did you learn that?

·       Can you show me an example?

·       What are you most proud of?

·       How do you feel about…?

·       What did you learn from this work?

·       If you had to do this work again, what would you do differently?

·       How do you think you have improved in…?

·       What are you working on now?

·       What are some things you would like to work on before the end of the year?

·       Which goals did you already meet?

·       What are some ways that I could help you with your work and your learning goals?

Teachers will guide the sessions also, and I will be sending a link to more resources next week. If you have any questions or wish to schedule an additional parent conference only with your teacher please do let your teacher know.

Pre-K parents will have 20-minute Parent/Teacher Conferences with their teachers.
