Elementary News: May 17

Dear Parents,

This week we are completing our MAP tests Gr 2-5, many kids attended the DELF exam, and we showed our artistic excellence in the Art Salon on Thursday. The focus of next week is the Aristocats musical, which will be in the new HS music room. We hope you can attend!

Tuesday is Day 5: I'll start with a note about the 6-day rotation and Pentecoste. As I am sure you are aware, school is closed Monday, and this holiday was added after the 6-day calendar was completed. The numbers will skip the weekend, so Tuesday will be Day 5. Just so you remember when to pack the swimwear for your child! The web calendar has been amended as below:

Aristocats Musical:

Please try and come to one of the two evening performances of Aristocats. The Gr 3-5 cast and Ms. Joy have been hard at work rehearsing, and it is the first time we have done a multi-grade musical production - we are also very excited that we will also be using the new music room stage in the HS! The two evening performances will begin at 7:00 on Wednesday and Thursday this week. K-2 students will get to see the dress rehearsal on Wednesday morning.

Gr 4 & 5 Volleyball: Next Saturday May 25, please come and give the Gr 4 & 5 volleyball teams a cheer in the ISD tournament. If you are attending the Yard Sale before 12:00, the action will still be taking place in the gym, so please pop in if you can.

Pre-3 Assembly: Thanks to Ms. Marje's class for three wonderfully animated songs. It takes a lot of courage to stand up the in front of us all, and they did us proud:

Art Salon: There was so much to enjoy from the K-12 children, it was difficult to know where to start. We even had a band and snacks. I found multiple pieces of work from many children, the quality was amazing, and I kept thinking about how lucky the kids are to be having specialist teachers for Art from KG - I certainly never had that luxury as a student , as my own art prowess will attest. Please thank Linda, Wendy or Megan for all the time they put in.

Gr 5 Samusocial Hosting: The 5th Grade hosted ISD Elementary's final Samusocial visit session this week. The children enjoyed activities in the field, classrooms, basketball court and here, below with Ms. Shelly and drummers learning some dance moves. We will be setting up the new Gr 3-5 Samusocial program again next year.

Kindergarten Lunch Flower Murals: Below are three lovely flower murals that were drawn on the walls of the KG lunch area. Please drop in and have a look at the others on the wall if you have time. They were drawn using math enlargement techniques.
