Dear Parents,

As the year comes to a close, we are still working hard on end-of-year assessments, but we have plenty of outside the classroom events too. Here are some of last week's events.

Kindergarten Bake Sale: The two KG classes held their annual bake sale to raise funds for the organization, Nabeday. They raised an impressive 300,500cfa! All donations will go to help save mangrove forests. This also fits with an environmental unit, and you can see their enviro-robots at their KG Expo next week!

Gr 4 & 5 Volleyball Tournament: We had a great time at the volleyball tournament last weekend. Thanks, Coaches Silvia and Sambou!

K-2 & 3-5 Music Celebrations: Here are some photos of the Music Celebrations last week:

Kindergarten Playgrounds: The Kindergarten have been busy! On top of their concerts and bake sale, and robot making, they also held parties to celebrate the opening of their two parks. One was Playful Park (named after a cloud in their classroom) and the other Clark Park (no, I did not tell them that had to be the title). They shared their ideas and plans and showed the final models to parents. Thanks to Ms. Christy for coordinating this unit:

5H Assembly: We were entertained, thought about next year and said thanks to our teachers at the 5H assembly. We also presented final CORE awards and also the certificates for the DELF French exams held earlier in the month. Thanks Ms. Hill for coordinating:

Pre-4 W Assembly: Our Pre-K 4 kids entertained us with a story and a song. We also loved the two murals they created. Again, thanks to Ms. Melinda for putting this all together:

Photographers from Outside: We request that you do not ask outside photographers to come and take photographs of school functions. We are happy for you and family members to, but some parents and teachers would rather school events were photographed by school personnel.

Report Card and Attendance: As I mention at this time each year, we do have an attendance policy that also relates to report cards. It states that:

Elementary School students must have at least 80% attendance for a trimester to earn a full report. Less than 80% attendance will gain a “narrative only” report. No reports will be given for a student attending less than 40% of a trimester’s classes.

This is because, as with MS and HS students, we need a certain level of attendance to calculate and ascertain grades for the report card. There will be a letter of explanation in those report cards concerned. In addition, we do not give out report cards before June 12; they take a long time to compile and are not printed until the year's end. If a child is not in attendance on that day, they will be mailed if a forwarding address is given, or scanned and emailed. Copies are always kept on file in the office.

Tiles Continue: Below, is an update on what (I think) will be a jaguar on the new building:
