The library would like to announce two important events that begin this weekend: Constitution Day and  National Hispanic Heritage Month.  Come to the library for wonderful and informative resources for both.

Constitution Day - 17 September

The Mount Vernon resource has plenty of detailed lessons, reading material, biographies, and facts regarding the U.S. Constitution.  Feel free to sit down with your children and scroll through this resource in commemoration of Constitution Day.  Click on this link.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from

15 September - 15 October

Check out Google Arts and Culture to see a collection of art, history, dance, and people of interest, including muralist Diego Rivera.

The library also hosts a resource list of books that range from children’s picture books to non-fiction resources.

The library carries many volumes from Latino authors, including Julia Alvarez, Rudolfo Anaya, Yuri Morales, and Gary Soto. Come to the library and ask for help finding a book that is just right for you.

Saturday Hours has a special day coming up. The library has two volunteer readers for Sept. 23rd, and picture books in both English and Chinese will be read to the ISD community. Come with your children, enjoy some picture books, and then feel free to browse the shelves for books to check out.
